Women's Demand for Humane Treatment of Women Workers in Shop and Factory

The author of this 1909 pamphlet, Rheta Childe Dorr, was an investigative journalist and later became editor of The Suffragist. Many Progressive Era investigations of women’s working conditions were done by women.

Under the leadership of general secretary, Florence Kelley, The National Consumers’ League advocated for safe working conditions, better wages, and protective legislation for working women.
