Aster is a young boy who wants to be a witch. But in his family, only girls may become witches, and boys must be shapeshifters. Aster has yet to shapeshift, and his curiosity about witches is growing. When his family is in danger, Aster must believe in his budding abilities as a witch in order to save his family and to discover who he truly is.

Molly Knox Ostertag is an LGBTQ+ artist and writer. She is the artist of the ongoing webcomic Strong Female Protagonist. The Witch Boy is the first graphic novel by Ostertag that was both written and illustrated by herself.
