People living in Minnesota today can trace the origins of their cultures centuries back and/or to almost every part of the world - just like in many other states and countries. A selection of images from Archives and Special Collections at the University of Minnesota may serve not to provide the answer to the question "Who are we?" but rather to make one ask what it means to be a Minnesotan and how it relates to the perceived notion of this state's population's collective identity (if there is such a thing) and its typical features as they are or are not sometimes portrayed in the media and by various other speakers.
