Description

Thanks, George! School by Air was a series of programs suggested by KUOM to Dean Schwiekardt, Commissioner of Education for the State of Minnesota and to the Boards of Education in Minneapolis and St. Paul. The suggestion was accepted by the educators and the whole series was planned by teachers from all the cooperating groups. Our purpose was to present programs that would provide not school lessons but rather a different and interesting approach to the work of the coming school year and "different" they were, with Halsey Hall doing our "sports" lessons and Mrs. Jean Piccard helping with our science shows. School was called 45 separate time in 9 days for kids in different grade levels. The response has been so gratifying, we feel the project was most worthwhile. We thank the children, parents, teachers, the newspapers and all the people who contributed the time and ideas that made these programs possible.

We hope our young listeners have had as much fun in listening to KUOM for Kids and School by Air, as we at the University station, have had in broadcasting these programs.
