Tales of Wonder:  Retelling Fairy Tales Through Picture Postcards, Zipes (2017)

Jack Zipes is Professor Emeritus of German at the University of Minnesota, who had previously held professorships at New York University, the University of Munich, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Florida. He donated his extensive collection of fairytales, folklore, and criticism to the Kerlan Collection of the University of Minnesota.

This donation included over one hundred titles that retold or referred to Little Red Riding Hood.

Jamie Tehrani an anthropologist at Durham University in the United Kingdom, theorizes that this  folk tale can be traced back to an 11th Century poem. He tracks the evolution of folktales the with the same methodology used to track biological evolution. ( Tehrani JJ (2013) The Phylogeny of Little Red Riding Hood. PLoS ONE 8(11): e78871. https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0078871)

The over 1,000 books that Professosr Zipes donated to the Children's Literature Reserch Collections can be found in the on-line catalog. To request titles for review in the Elmer L. Andersen Library go to the Kerlan Collection website and request the volume research. The Kerlan Collection open to everyone.
