Text

Dear Dr. Lillehei,

I sincerely appreciate the privilege of observing intracardiac surgery. My personal experience is limited to animal dissection. It was a sacred thrill to actually see human lungs and a human heart. Thank you so very much.

No one can possibly realize the time, energy and self-dedication you and your team have given to help man live longer and healthier. Sooner or later we all realize that the higher we aim, the greater is the price we must pay. Your goal is very high. May the Master Physician grant you the courage and power to realize its fullness. I shall keep you in my prayers. May God bless you.

Sincerely yours,
Sister M. Eunice, SSND
