Photographic scan of interior of Songs of Innocence and Experience, William Blake, 1794. Page is cream paper with a smaller plate printed near the middle of the page. The plate has type in brown ink and relief etching illustrations in brown ink and watercolor. The top half of the plate features an illustration with a young boy wearing a loose gown, extending his arms in distress within a dark forest scene. The bottom half of the page features a poem called “The Little Boy lost,” with the poem title in a decorative, more calligraphic type and the body of the poem in a smaller hand-cut serif type. The body of the poem is interspersed with illustrated vines and surrounded by winged figures in loose gowns. Page is laid on black background.
