Dear Friends:

Enclosed you will find the reviews of the Mid-States Regional Ballet Festival.

The tremendous shock to us was the fact that we were written up by Clive Barnes in the Sunday New York Times. After years of negation concerning regionalism, it was a miracle that he gave regionalism a boost.

Following the Festival I had to work hard to carry on the momentum of our own company. Believe me, I am numb.

I would like to thank you and everyone for participating in the Festival. Every director and member of the companies and each guest was most cooperative and beautiful. The sea of beautiful faces before me at the Gala Dinner was proof that the hope of the urban communities rests with its young people and the development of these natural resources into mature artists. Let us recognize that the major companies in New York are filled with the regional products of Paducah, Roseville or Shaker Heights.

Once again, my love and thanks to everyone who participated in the Festival.

Sincerely,
(Signature: Loyce Houlton)
