Article, "Military, Civilian Students Share U Campus," The Minnesota Daily, October 16, 1943

There were a few army groups on campus then. Today, the students that walk down these steps on way to class are not as many as they were then. The military students are more. The University of Minnesota is on a wartime footing -- men in the service are studying here to handle the military jobs that take well trained men; students are preparing themselves to take jobs in the world at war; and the University research staffs are devoting their time to working on government projects. This issue of The Daily is dedicated to those soldiers on campus who have come to study with us in preparation for a bigger job 'somewhere in the world.'" An additional two articles are found on the lower half of the page and include, "War Is Greater Strain on University Than Peace" and "Col. King Heads All Campus Army Units," along with a small black and white photograph portrait of Colonel Harry L. King.
