Cover, Special U of M Army Edition, October 16, 1943

Image of the cover of the October 16, 1943 issue of the Special U of M Army Edition of The Minnesota Daily. The text printed on the cover includes the title of the publication, "Special U of M Army Edition: The Minnesota Daily" and "The Worlds Largest College Newspaper, The University of Minnesota, Saturday, October 16, 1943." Featured left of the title, is an image of an American flag with the following text, "We want everyone to know what training army men are getting at the University. We suggest that you send this special army edition to a friend or relative in the armed forces. For overseas mailing, it should be sent in a sealed envelope. Postage will be three cents, (first class mail). When mailed within the United States, the paper should be rolled in paper. Only a one cent stamp is needed, (second class mail)." The articles found on the cover include an overview on the Football team, along with their official program and rules on attending a football game identified by Acting Director of Athletics, Louis F. Keller, and a notice for the Dads' Day Association Meeting. A corresponding black and white photograph of three football players is published left of the text, with the following caption, "Alternating as football captains this year are (top to bottom) Paul Mitchell, Edgar Lechner and Bill Garnaas. Mitchell is captain today."
