Editorial cartoon, The Minnesota Daily, October 12, 1937

Clipping of an editorial cartoon from a digitized version of the October 12, 1937 issue of The Minnesota Daily. The cartoon depicts a group of five (5) students, four (4) sitting inside an automobile with the letters "U M" on the driver's side door parked on the street outside of Memorial Stadium, the football stadium at the University of Minnesota. Another student is standing next to the automobile with a question mark drawn above their head. Two (2) students in the backseat of the vehicle are holding a large telescope that is pointed upwards toward the stadium. A quote bubble is drawn above the automobile pointed towards the student seated in the driver's seat. The text in the quote bubble states, "We Gotta Have One This Big. We're Sittin' In The Student Section." In the background, smaller figures are depicted entering the stadium and pennants with "M" written on them decorate the top of the stadium. The names of the illustrators, Pay Burgess and H. Berlovitz are written in the bottom right corner of the cartoon. The cartoon was published on the front page of the October 12, 1937 edition of the Daily alongside an article that reported on the existence of ticket scalping for Gopher football games and student complaints against inability to afford and get access to tickets to attend games.
