"The broadening of the President's ad hoc publications committee to include two Senate Committee on Student Affairs representatives and a representative of the Board of Publications indicates the President is willing to have all sides of the publication issue aired in his investigation. But the President's statement does not indicate what the committee will concern itself with, or what information can be gleaned from the report of his ad hoc committee that could not be gained from closer contact either with the Board of Publications or the Senate Committee on Student Affairs.
In brief, the new make-up of the committee and the promise that action will be taken through regular channels are reassuring, but the reason for the committee is still vague.
The Daily asks for a statement of the purpose of the committee sometime before it meets and for an assurance the Daily will be included at all pertinent meetings. These actions would be more reassuring than the President's current statement."
