THE CONTEMPORARY DANCE PLAYHOUSE
404 SOUTH EAST 13TH AVENUE
MINNEAPOLIS 14, MINNESOTA
[Illustration of two dancers]
A SCHOOL for students of all ages that services the broad spectrum of the Art of Dance
A PERFORMING COMPANY, The Contemporary Dancers, that provides performing experience in dance theater
THE DIRECTOR.. of the Contemporary Dance Playhouse is LOYCE HOULTON former teacher of dance in New York, the University of Minnesota, and Macalester College.
THE FACULTY.. is comprised of permanent members of the Contemporary Dancers. The faculty seeks advanced study at schools in the East, and outstanding choreographers and dancers from throughout the United States visit our Playhouse to extend our technical and performing repertory.
WE BELIEVE . . . . .
. . . .that the dance training of our students of all ages should encompass a wide range of movement experience.
For the very young and beginning student dance is an extension of the natural range of movement and a preparation for the more complex program of modern, ballet and other dance forms.
For the older and prepared student classes are based on the analysis of modern and ballet techniques of Martha Graham, Jose Limon and other teachers of contemporary dance.
For the adult student dance is the extension and perfection of technique and performance in relation to its allied arts.
THE CONTEMPORARY DANCERS . . . .
include faculty and other permanent members. Admission is by invitation only and students are invited to audition for specific works. The most recent performance of the Playhouse is:
