In conjunction with the Centennial celebration of the University of Minnesota in 1951, Marian A. Huttner, Principal Librarian of the University Library, wrote a letter addressed to alumni that introduced them to the University Archives and asked for their help in preserving the history of the University.
Letter, Marian A. Huttner, Librarian, to Alumni of the University of Minnesota, 1951
Huttner noted that the papers of students - scrapbooks, publications, diaries, class lecture notes, pictures, and other memorabilia - were of particular interest, as “it is the students who make the University and their papers which give it life and meaning.”
