The University's administration also became interested in student participation on a postwar campus in the beginning of the 1950s.
It was in 1948 that an appointed group of students and faculty was created out of the Senate Education Committee to prepare a set of recommendations, along with a report, that outlined how to increase student participation in the preparation of educational plans and policies.
Both the recommendations and the report were accepted by the Senate Education Committee and then were unanimously passed by the University Senate on June 6, 1951.
The Daily had made this issue their campaign for the 1950-1951 school year. This included a four part editorial series that encouraged student inclusion in decision making across the University.
In the June 8, 1951 editorial, "Editor's Final Report: 'The Way is Open,' editor Leon C. Carr wrote that "a new high [had] been reached in student-Daily cooperation and that many through this campaign had learned that the Daily had tried to represent all groups, "not just a few."
